A very white day in Glen Coe. Deep snow meant that getting up to this point was pretty hard work.

Saturday, March 12, 2011

Loads of fresh snow today above about 250 metres. Very poor visibility on the hill.
Still layers of graupel creating instabilities within the snowpack, especially where being overloaded which significant amounts of fresh windslab.

Fresh snow at Black Rock cottage (alt 310m).

Fresh snow in the White Coires ski area carpark (alt 360m).

Thursday, March 10, 2011

The view over to Stob Coire an Lochan during a brief clear spell.

Lots of graupel blowing about in some strong and gusty winds.

Wednesday, March 09, 2011

It had snowed down to valley level this morning although it warmed slightly this afternoon.
Drifts are to be found in any sheltered locations but most aspects have also got very scoured areas as well.
Looking down to the ski area. Excellent ski-ing where there is new snow.
Graupel was noted in the snowpack. This may have an influence on stability if buried in forecasted snow.

Buachaille Etive Mor looks a bit more wintry now.

Tuesday, March 08, 2011

It was a bit warmer today than forecast and pretty well rained most of the morning.
I went up to Coire nan Lochan again today as it's a good way to the snowline. There was a few guided groups in again today enjoying the 'winter ' conditions.
